Identifying the advantages of an open banking strategy early on, Union Bank of the Phillippines looked to worked with new entrants, enabling the bank to participate in emerging banking ecosystem, and learn from the new players. The bank built this API marketplace, looking to make this as a channel of choice for FinTechs and new entrants while empowering the bank to serve customer segments outside the bracket of traditional banking.
