Digitizing Data – A New Approach to Creating Seamless Data Streams across the Enterprise

Digitizing Data – A New Approach to Creating Seamless Data Streams across the Enterprise

According to a McKinsey survey, the near future — thanks to digitization — will see under a third of organizations implement intelligent technologies across multiple businesses or functions to weather any storm.

Digitization, thus, is no longer a choice but a necessity.

Automation can only be effective if it can obtain structured, digitized data — But how can organizations achieve this? How can organizations transition to intelligent process automation?

Unstructured data, including images, handwriting, signatures, and mobile content, pose a challenge to capturing and digitizing data. Unstructured data is difficult to analyze because it cannot be processed with rules, lacks standardization, is in a natural language, has limited/no structure or metadata, and can include non-text-based materials.

According to SSON’s 2021 GBS and Shared Services survey, more than 75% of organizations are struggling with unstructured data.

Cognitive Machine Reading (CMR) and Machine Learning (ML) can be a solution to this problem.

To transform into a digitized organization, it is necessary to ‘integrate and orchestrate a variety of cognitive technologies, including data capture, intelligent document processing, natural language understanding, machine learning, process discovery, etc.’
