Event Hospitality and Entertainment Limited is one of the largest cinema circuits in Australia and New Zealand with a market cap of approx. AUD 1.2 billion. A leader in the region for automation initiatives, the company has set up an RPA Center of Excellence (CoE) across the organization for process excellence.

Opportunity

Event Cinemas sells food and other merchandise in their cinema outlets. The supplies needed for this was placed ad-hoc by each Cinema Manager to different suppliers via different ordering processes and portals, resulting in inventory pile-up and decreased cash flow.

They were looking to improve stock ordering and inventory management.

  • Orders had to be placed as per Minimum Order Quantity based on cost, count, and pallets
  • Ordering for perishable goods had to be done separately

Due to these complexities, the company ended up spending over 5,000 manual hours to complete the process.

Solution

They shortlisted 20+ use cases to be automated across 60+ cinemas. The solution automated three systems in the inventory order management process, as follows:

  • Automated Supplier Order management by consolidating order to suppliers, checking incoming stock invoices using cognitive services on the tap and making payments
  • Created a virtual Kanban system for purchase orders
  • All this implementation was backed by automated predictive analytics
