MessageBox

This activity is applicable only for an attended automation process. It displays a dialog box with specific message for the user, along with a prompt to respond such as OK, Cancel.

Using MessageBox Activity

  1. In the Canvas Tools pane, click Assign and Write to expand the tool and view the associated activities.
  2. Drag the MessageBox activity and drop on to the Flowchart designer on the Canvas.

 

 

  1. In the Provide Title  list, select the parameter holding title of the message box. You must define the parameter in the Parameter bar to use this option. Alternatively, in the Provide Title field, enter a title of the message box and select the check box to set the title entered as the default title.
  2. In the Provide message list, select a parameter that holds the desired message to display. You must define the parameter in the Parameter bar to use this option.  Alternatively, in the Provide message field, enter the message that you want to display and then select the check box to set the message entered as the default message.
  3. From the Select Output drop down, select the output parameter to store the return value of the button option.

The MessageBox activity with a default name is created.

 

MessageBox Properties

The properties of MessageBox activity are listed in the following table and can be edited in the Properties grid on the right pane.

Ignore Error

When this option is set to Yes, the application ignores any error while executing the activity.

If set to NA, it bypasses the exception (if any) to let the automation flow continue; however, it marks the automation status as failure, in case of an exception.

By default, this option is set to No.

Delay

Wait After

Specify the time delay that must occur after the activity is executed. The value must be in milliseconds.

Wait Before

Specify the time delay that must occur before the activity is executed. The value must be in milliseconds.

Misc

Breakpoint

Select this option to mark this activity as a pause point while debugging the process. At this point, the process freezes during execution allowing you to examine if the process is functioning as expected.

In large or complex processes, breakpoints help in identifying the error, if any.

Commented

Select this option to mark this activity as inactive in the entire process. When an activity is commented, it is ignored during the process execution.

DisplayName

The display name of the activity in the flowchart designer area. By default, the name is set as MessageBox. You can change the name as required.

Is Top Most

Select this option to display the added message box on top of an application window.

Message

Enter the message you want to display.

MessageBoxType

Select the type of message box to be displayed. Available options are:

  • OK
  • OKCancel
  • YesNo

OutputAurgument

The parameter to store the return value.

Title

The title displayed in the tile bar of the MessageBox activity.
