Post Bank Uganda chooses Finacle, goes live

Infosys consolidates in East Africa

Bangalore, August 20, 2003 Infosys announced today that Post Bank Uganda (PBU) has decided in favour of Finacle suite of products for its IT initiative. Post Bank Uganda has gone live with Finacle Core Banking. This is the first Finacle site live in East Africa.

Post Bank Uganda started operations in 1998. The bank was started by taking over all the business and commercial activities of Postal Office Savings Bank.

Announcing this, Mr. Fabian Zungu, Managing Director Post Bank Uganda said,” PBU is very happy to partner with Infosys in its IT initiative. Over the last few years, the bank has been gearing up to move towards centralized banking solution to enable us to get the benefits of new-age technologies which would help in launching new products and services for our customers with reduced time-to-market and costs. At the time of takeover, it had deposits of UGX 1.5 billion. At the end of December 2002, the deposit was above UGX 16 billion. The asset base is about UGX 30 billion. Presently, Post Bank has 9 own branches and 11 Post office service points operated with agency agreement with Post Office.

Infosys deploys Finacle at The Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd

Bangalore, August 12, 2003 Infosys Technologies Ltd. today announced that The Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd. (J&K Bank), one of its strong and long-standing customers further strengthened its bonds with Infosys by successfully deploying Finacle Core Banking. The J & K Bank has been recipient of Best Bank Award and the Best Universal Bank Award for 2001-2002 by The Financial Express. With this technology initiative, the bank hopes to consolidate its leadership position in the region.

The J&K Bank went Live with Finacle in a record time of 4 months and is now targeting to rapidly roll out Finacle across the bank.

The Jammu & Kashmir Bank Ltd. has become the 17th bank in India and 36th bank globally whose technology platform is powered by Finacle, the new generation enterprise banking e-platform. The Bank now has an aggressive plan to roll out Finacle to 100 key branches in the first phase and later to the rest of the bank on the centralized model.
